Is your contact page helping or hurting you?

Visitors are on your site because they have a problem or need. The reason they’re on your site is because they think that you can fill it. This is an ideal situation for you, but you have to make sure not to mess it up.

Now, imagine that your site visitor is at the point where they want to learn more or buy, but there’s no convenient button to push. This is frustrating for them and could lead to you losing a sale.

You can avoid this situation by placing clear calls-to-action (CTAs) across your website and having an easy-to-find contact page. Let’s see if your contact form is checking all of the boxes.

Contact Page Checklist

There’s no set formula for success here. But, there are many best practices that will help you convert more visitors into contacts, helping you land more customers. Give this checklist a try and see how your design stacks up.

  1. A contact page with a clean contact form that funnels requests to the right people.
  2. A process to respond to contact requests within 24 hours or less.
  3. Consider a live-chat feature if you have a support team available for requests.
  4. A link to your contact page in the site footer and other key areas.
  5. An attractive call-to-action button (for example, “schedule an appointment”) in your header/footer with extra visual weight. (
  6. At end of your contact form, “Submit” is not the most effective button title! People tend to react somewhat negatively to the word. Go with something more exciting like “Send Request Now.”

How did you do? As long as you’re doing most of these things, you’ll be able to maintain a good conversion rate on your website. But, even small improvements can make a big difference.
