Our Story

After starting BrandHoot with no funding and no connections, we’re grateful to now be working with so many impactful organizations. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along this incredible journey! We've just begun.

  • Born in 2012

BrandHoot was founded in January of 2012, two weeks after Nate and his wife found out baby #1 was on the way. Seemed like the perfect time to quit a full-time job and start a company.

Nate began as a social media marketing freelancer, working hard out of a tiny home attic a dozen blocks North of downtown Rochester, MN. As demand grew, websites and apps became our primary service.

The name BrandHoot was picked because our goal is to communicate your brand promise through smart strategy and clarity, just like the actions and call of an owl. That, and was the only two-syllable .com available that made us smile.

    • Snow owl at Oxbow Park whom we nicknamed Oliver
  • A Growing Business

About a year later, BrandHoot was serving over 30 various clients, from small local shops to large enterprises. We also launched our first app (HiveSync), and hired a half-dozen contractors to help sustain increasing demand. Soon, BrandHoot would start completing projects fully in-house by hiring our first employee.

  • Rochester Now

Rochester Now was an app we imagined for our city to bring scattered local resources and event calendars into one convenient mobile app. In combination with the app, our Rochester Now Facebook page and Twitter account allowed us to actively engage thousands of locals and visitors every week, promoting events, things to do, prizes, and fun tips.
